Whilst my favourite genre is musical theatre I have designed and operated the lighting for a wide range of productions in the Amateur and Professional fields. As with many people I started at school lighting the annual christmas Gilbert & Sullivan and Shakespeare productions and went to the local amateur New Venture Theatre in Brighton.

ABOUT ME

I am a freelance Lighting Designer / Lighting Director / Set and Event Planner with nearly 50 years experience in the industry starting as an Actor in 1964, and then moving into the technical side of theatre in the 70’s.

My work covers all genres including - TV Outside Broadcasts, Musical Theatre, Straight Plays, Live Events, Exhibitions, Parties.

As Exhibitions Co-Ordinator at the Society of TV Lighting and Design I have planned and produced three major events for the STLD.

2011 - STLD LED Shootout at PLASA 2011

2008 - Generic Lights Shootout at Pinewood TV Studios

2007 - Moving Lights Shootout at Maidstone Studios

Recent set designs include My Fair Lady for Christchurch Music Society and Fawlty Towers for the Dolman Theatre, Newport

I have had a number of articles published in “TV Lighting” magazine and was Guest Editor for one issue in 2009.

I have also had an article on the National Eisteddford of Wales published in “Lighting and Sound International magazine
